Congenital dislocation of the hip in Budapest, Hungary.

For the last few years nearly all newborn infants born in Budapest, a city of two million inhabitants, have received an orthopaedic examination which includes a screening test for congenital dislocation of the hip (CDH). Suspected cases of CDH were kept under observation and received treatment if necessary. In this way a total of 3,000 treated cases born between 1962 and 1967 became available for study.
